Are you getting the ingredients of happiness right?

“Happiness is not a matter of intensity but of balance, order, rhythm, and harmony.”

Thomas Merton

What does balance mean to you? Not in a perfect, everything-in-its-place kind of way, but in a way that feels honest and true. When you strip away all the noise, are you moving with a steady rhythm, or are you just reacting to whatever’s in front of you? True happiness stems from living in alignment with your values rather than from intensity or constant striving.

Reflect on a moment when you experienced deep peace. You likely weren’t overwhelmed or pulled in multiple directions. Instead, you were connected to what mattered, moving intentionally and in harmony with yourself.

Balance, order, rhythm, and harmony allow us to remain grounded despite our challenges. Every day, we choose not to do more but concentrate on the right things. We aim to live in a way that respects what is essential and allows us to let go of what is not.

Where can you bring more order to your day? Where can you find a rhythm that keeps you steady and present? True happiness isn’t about how much you can fit in; it’s about being intentional enough to make what you do fit in truly count.

What would it take to live with this kind of alignment? And what’s one shift you’re ready to make today to head in that direction?
