Failure is an opportunity for success…

“Focus on the possibilities for success, not on the potential for failure.”

Napoleon Hill

I believe it is essential to understand that failure WILL happen. Once you are comfortable with this fact, you can embrace the opportunities in front of you with full gusto. It doesn’t mean you ignore the potential for failure; quite the opposite. Instead, you focus on the future possibilities and seek to SOLVE for the potential failure points. The opportunity is why you keep moving; the possible failure is merely a problem to be solved.

Seek defeat in order to learn…

“When defeat comes, accept it as a signal that your plans are not sound. Rebuild those plans and set sail once more toward your coveted goal.”

Napoleon Hill

Defeat will come. It is inevitable. If you aren’t risking failure, you aren’t trying hard enough and the best learning one can ever have will likely come from loss. Perhaps that should be the goal? Push so hard that you exceed your capacities, and therefore set the stage for growth.

Are you choosing to be limited or liberated?

“Effort only fully releases its reward after a person refuses to quit.”

Napoleon Hil

There are two voices inside your mind. One says YOU CAN and one says YOU CAN’T. The one that you choose to listen to will define your ability to grow and succeed in life. The beauty is that we each get to choose which voice we are going to follow. One is limiting the other is liberating. Which one will you choose today?

The opportunity is now…

“Your big opportunity may be right where you are now.”

Napoleon Hill

Every day we have a choice to make. Do we focus on what is right in front of us or do we spend our time thinking about and chasing things that may or may not really matter? In our hyper-distracted world it is so easy to get lost in the myriad of opportunities for distraction that exist outside of where we are in a given moment or place in time.

Seizing the opportunities that are in front of you doesn’t mean to settle or limit yourself. It means fully exploring the path ahead and making informed and intelligent decisions about where to go next. Quitting is easy, chasing the shiny objects is easy, shifting focus is easy. Buckling down to do the hard work RIGHT NOW is tough, but when you do it, it creates opportunities and growth that perhaps you can’t even see.

There is a big difference between running towards opportunities and running from circumstances or challenges. Sometimes the biggest and best things in life are right in front of you but they are clouded due to either familiarity or perhaps a lack of newness. What if today was the day that you decided to focus all your energy on what is right there for the taking?

The big opportunity exists each and every day for every one of us. There is nothing worse than to live a life that is simply an existence instead of a life lived out with intention and purpose. The big opportunity is to use the day ahead as fully and completely as possible. Run towards the opportunity to use today in the most powerful and positive way. If you don’t, the time is going to pass anyway. Wouldn’t you prefer to have seized the day?

Don’t waste a second…

“Your big opportunity may be right where you are now.”

Napoleon Hill

Sometimes it can be so easy to become consumed by future goals and objectives. We can easily miss the opportunity to simply be present and impact the world positively right here and now. I know that I fight this battle daily but I am not going to surrender. Because time spent living for the future, or in the past, is a waste of the present moment. Life is too precious to waste a single second…

It’s a daily fight…

“If you do not conquer self, you will be conquered by self.”

Napoleon Hill

No person is perfect, we can all get better in a multitude of ways.  To do so though means you have to strive.  You have to lean forward and seek growth.  You have to overcome our inherent human laziness and aversion to extremely hard work.  It is a daily fight to be better and to grow.

I know I struggle with always wanting to do more, to take on more.  To push harder.  I never want to let my natural self be stronger than my desired self.  It is a daily choice.  Sometimes I win, sometimes I don’t.  But one can never ever give up.  There is a better version of yourself on the other side.
