The joy of giving…

“Christmas is a tonic for our souls. It moves us to think of others rather than of ourselves. It directs our thoughts to giving.”

B.C. Forbes

This quote reminds of two verses that I was studying this morning.

“Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.” Philippians 2:4

“Let no one seek his own good, but the good of his neighbor.” 1 Corinthians 10:24

It is easy to forget with all the hype in today’s world that through Christmas we are celebrating an eternal gift received by giving to others thoughtfully and without a focus on ourselves. Today I am committed to focusing not on the tasks or shopping lists, but on the pure joy of giving to others.
