The greatest gift to others is to be your honest self.

“You really have to be yourself. The best thing that you can do for anybody is just to offer one more honest adult in their lives.”

Fred Rogers

I have fond memories of watching Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood as a child. While I was just being entertained, I didn’t realize the gifts and blessings that were being imparted to me through this program. When I read this quote, I took some time to read more about Mr. Rogers. I found this quote as well, “I’d like to be remembered for being a compassionate human being who happened to be fortunate enough to be born at a time when there was a fabulous thing called television that could allow me to use all the talents that I had been given.” Fred Rogers (emphasis mine)

Being honest with yourself about who you are and what God has created you to be is a gift to others. Anything else steals from you and those you interact with and love. There is a theme in Mr. Rogers’ quotes, and while I have only used one on my blog before, it is definitely related. You can see that quote here.

Are you being yourself, true to yourself, following God’s calling, path, and purpose? These are challenging questions and require some weighty introspection and reflection. Life is a journey where all the experiences, lessons, tribulations, and challenges work together to create something special. When you embrace that special and individual creation and own who that person is, you can really embrace the impact you can have on others.
