“It is better to know some of the questions than all of the answers.”
James Thurber
We spend most of our lives in the pursuit of answers to questions.
Answers are solutions, and we are innately wired to find solutions to problems. From a very early point in our lives, someone else gives us the problem, and we put all our energy into finding the answer. There is nothing wrong with being answer-focused; it is why we can learn and grow as humans. However, it raises the question of whether we are answering the right questions. How will we ever know if we don’t pause to take stock and think through the questions themselves?
What challenge, opportunity, or difficult situation are you facing? Instead of putting all your energy into the answers, take some time to think through the questions. You might find that you have been answering the wrong questions…
