“Whenever you are about to find fault with someone, ask yourself the following question: What fault of mine most nearly resembles the one I am about to criticize?”
Marcus Aurelius
Ouch. This is a convicting quote.
Imagine having a circuit breaker in your mind that could trip when you were about to criticize someone else. Think of how powerful it would be if you could ask yourself, “Since I share this fault, how would I like to receive feedback right now? What advice or perspective would be most valuable for me?”
It’s not that far-fetched. We all can pause, consider our reactions, and choose to exercise our right to respond differently. The question is, will we?
