Are you willing to be foolish if it unlocks growth?

“Stay hungry, stay foolish.”

Steve Jobs

I came across this quote yesterday while working with a fantastic group of leaders, and it resonated with me as they embraced an opportunity to stretch and grow. They were pushing to go past their current capabilities and unlock potential they didn’t even know they had; it was amazing to watch. They didn’t have to stretch but chose to learn and improve their abilities.

It was a great reminder about how easy it is to settle in life. We often reach a plateau and begin to coast, satisfied with what we’ve achieved. But coasting is dangerous. It’s the quiet killer of dreams, the subtle sapping of your potential.

What does it mean to stay hungry? Hunger drives us to push beyond the boundaries of comfort. It’s the fire that fuels our ambition, the insatiable desire to achieve more, to be more. Hunger is what keeps us up at night, not in worry, but in excitement for the possibilities that lie ahead.

And what about staying foolish? To stay foolish is to embrace the unknown, to take risks, to chase dreams that others may deem impractical or impossible. It’s the mindset that allows us to innovate, to break free from conventional thinking, and to forge our own path.

But here’s the critical self-reflection: Are you truly staying hungry and foolish? Or have you allowed comfort to lull you into complacency?

Take a moment to reflect. When did you last feel that deep, burning hunger for something more? When did you last take a risk that made you feel a little foolish but undeniably alive?

It’s time to reignite that fire. To embrace the hunger and foolishness that leads to greatness. Because, in the end, it’s not about playing it safe—it’s about living a truly extraordinary life.
