Where were you 23 years ago today?

“When Americans lend a hand to one another, nothing is impossible. We’re not about what happened on 9/11. We’re about what happened on 9/12.”

Jeff Parness

Twenty-three years is a long time, and it is easy to treat 9/11 as just another day. For those of us who were alive and old enough to remember, 9/11 is seared into our consciousness in ways that defy explanation. I was conversing with my kids this past weekend about the events of history that forever impacted a generation, and 9/11 was undoubtedly one of those events.

In my reading and preparation time this morning, I came across the message Billy Graham had delivered on 9/14/2001. The words are just as relevant today as they were 23 years ago.

While our days are busier than ever, I pray that you can take a moment to pause, remember, and pray today. So many lives were changed in a flash, and for those impacted, they will never forget. “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” Matthew 5:4 ESV

Twenty three years later we still have the opportunity to be about what happened on 9/12 every single day…
