How high can you lift others?

“True fulfillment comes not from climbing higher, but from lifting others as you rise.”

John C. Maxwell

Yesterday, I had a conversation with a friend, which made me sit back and think. We were talking about the impact of our work and the importance of serving others, and they shared something that stood out to me: “In two generations, most of us will only be remembered by a sentence or two shared during Thanksgiving dinner.”

Think about this. After all the titles, the long nights, ‘essential’ meetings, promotions, and hustle, you might be reduced to, “Remember how much Grandpa Bob loved the cornbread dressing?” While that seems morbid, it’s also incredibly clarifying. What are you doing today that truly matters?

It’s not about how high you go. It is all about impact. It’s about how many people you can lift higher.

When you choose to make serving others the priority, you create a ripple effect. The people you invest in today carry forward a piece of your legacy long after you’re gone. The real question is, what kind of legacy are you building through your actions and leadership right now?

To explore further, I highly recommend John C. Maxwell’s “Leadershift.” It’ll challenge you to rethink how you define success and encourage you to invest in lifting others, not just yourself.
