What are you avoiding right now that you know needs attention?

“You cannot find peace by avoiding life.”

Virginia Woolf

Over the years, I have seen many leaders who excel at celebrating wins but avoid the tough conversations at all costs. They’ll push it aside when bad news surfaces, hoping it will sort itself out. If I’m honest, I’ve sometimes done the same. But avoiding the problem doesn’t work. By the time we finally face the issue, it has either grown, or the problem we have created in our mind is bigger than it really is. Bad news doesn’t improve with age; it only gets more challenging to handle and robs you of peace.

The lesson learned is this: life will be messy, uneven, and imperfect. Waiting for the perfect time or hoping that things will magically get better on their own won’t bring peace. Real peace comes when you accept the situation for what it is and take action to resolve it. There’s no avoiding the hard stuff; you are only delaying the inevitable.

So, what challenges are you avoiding today that you know you must face?

If this resonates with you, check out “The Obstacle Is the Way” by Ryan Holiday. It’s one of my favorite books, and I enjoy rereading it as it encourages us to embrace life’s challenges rather than avoid them.
