“Life is a balance of holding on and letting go.”
Rumi
Picture this: you’re gripping a rope tied to an anchor, a job, a belief, a relationship. It’s familiar and comfortable, and that familiarity feels safe. But the tighter you hold, the more it keeps you from moving forward. If you want to progress, you must let go; holding on doesn’t always make you stronger; it often keeps you stuck in past paradigms.
Life is about knowing when to treasure what’s past and when to let go. Holding on to honors where you’ve been but letting go makes space for what’s next. The real question is: are you willing to release what’s holding you back to make room for something better?
If today was Day One, what would you choose to carry forward? What needs to stay behind?
Dr. Henry Cloud wrote about “letting go to grow” in his book Necessary Endings; it is a powerful read and one of my favorites from the past few years. I highly recommend it.
