“Mindfulness is the aware, balanced acceptance of the present experience.”
Sylvia Boorstein
Sometimes, I find it helps to deconstruct a sentence based on the words chosen.
Mindfulness = a technique in which one focuses one’s full attention only on the present, experiencing thoughts, feelings, and sensations but not judging them.
Aware = knowing, conscious, cognizant.
Balanced = being in harmonious or proper arrangement, adjustment, proportion, etc.
Acceptance = the act of taking or receiving something offered.
Present = being, existing, or occurring at this time or now
Experience = knowledge or practical wisdom gained from what one has observed, encountered, or undergone.
It’s powerful when you string all of these together…
