Have you pruned out the people holding you back?

“Surround yourself with the right people, and realize your own worth. Honestly, there are enough bad people out there in the world—you don’t need to be your own worst enemy.”

Lucy Hale

Who’s standing with you in the arena? Are they the ones who push you to be your best, challenge you, and lift you higher? Or are they keeping you safe and comfortable, even when that means holding you back?

Every person close to you impacts who you’re becoming, for better or worse. The people we allow into our lives shape how we see ourselves and what we believe we’re capable of. They can be the ones who feed our strengths or the ones who, slowly and subtly, keep us from growing.

This quote reminds me of something I wrote in 2019, “Who is in the Arena with You?” Choosing the right people isn’t just about compatibility; it’s about direction. If they’re not helping you reach your potential, they might be holding you back.

So here’s the question: are the people in your arena making you stronger, or are they making you smaller? It’s tough to answer honestly, especially when it requires looking at your choices and what you’re willing to tolerate.

Don’t be the enemy of your own progress. Surround yourself wisely. Life’s too short to let anyone keep you from becoming who you’re meant to be.
