Harry Truman kept a sign on his desk that read, “The buck stops here.” He knew and understood that leadership meant taking ownership, no matter the circumstances. Truman could have pointed fingers at Congress, at the weight of a world at war, at his predecessors, but he didn’t. He stood by his choices, even when they weren’t popular.
To be a leader we must step up, take responsibility, and realize that growth comes when we set excuses aside and choose accountability.
