What really needs to happen for you to begin?

“If we wait for the moment when everything, absolutely everything, is ready, we shall never begin.”

Ivan Turgenev

What are you waiting on? Why is tomorrow better than today? How will you move forward, progress, and achieve your grand vision?

How do you determine what needs to be ‘just right’ and what is ‘right enough?’ How can you ensure everything is prepared for action? What will be your signal to start?

The key word here is ‘everything.’ Does everything have to be ready, or just the next thing? What is the next step? If you can identify this, you can make progress. You can drive forward if you articulate what is good enough for the next step. Sometimes, it is the totality of something which slows us down. Break it into pieces, and deliver on that next crucial step

Don’t let the desire for perfect conditions hold you back. Identify the next ‘right step’ and drive forward, making progress, even if it is minuscule. Spin the flywheel and let the momentum build.

As John Burroughs wrote, “leap, and the net will appear…”
